This morning we harvested from a couple of older yards that had been sensibly planted with food security in mind (long before food security was a ‘thing’)! One was in Sturt St and included apple, lemon, fig and walnut trees. The second was this crazy wild backyard in Ballarat East; behind a Victorian house in Eureka st is this amazing gem. Pears, apples, grapes, crab apples, blackberries, figs & plums all planted decades ago and quietly producing still…
Even our smallest pickers are getting good at using the long-handled tools…
Fruit collected today was mainly apples and pears and was distributed to the Salvation Army (Main Rd), Food is Free Laneway and Salvation Army (Norman St).
